Palanquin Park is an on-going project that explores the intersection of place and belonging, or what it means to consider somewhere home. Thoughts about cartography, makeshift constructions, reconfigured vehicles, and temporary dwellings form the subtext of a continuing dialogue.
Palanquin Park includes sculpture, diorama and drawing and has been exhibited in various forms as part of solo and group exhibitions.
Palanquin refers to an old form of wheelless, human-powered transport, such as a sedan chair. Palanquins were generally enclosed platforms, some quite elaborate, resembling rooms or small houses. | |
